Date officially launched?

Live Life Every Day was founded in March of 2010 and by December 2010 the brand was fully launched.

What came about that made you help in social change?

I get asked this question a lot and the one thing I’ve noticed is that most people assume I’ve gone through some life changing or near death experience. Sure, everyone goes through rough times, that’s just life, but it wasn’t one specific event that led me to found Live Life Every Day. In fact, because so many people assume there was some near death experience, it’s become an additional goal to make sure people understand everyone can be truly happy. It should not, and does not, take a near death experience or life changing event to appreciate life.

I always knew I wanted to start my own business, it was just a matter of what it would be. I graduated fromLehighUniversityright in the heart of the recession and I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, except start my own business. I also knew that I did not want to desperately jump into the first job that presented itself because I didn’t want to be that miserable person who hates their job, but doesn’t do anything about it because they get a steady paycheck. I’ve always known the corporate life was not for me.

Being deep into the recession, there weren’t very many jobs out there to begin with. So I spent almost a year searching for a job and at the same time brainstorming business ideas. And then one day, it literally just hit me, almost like an epiphany. I’ve always been an extremely positive and fun person, and so Live Life Every Day just came naturally to me. Not only did I always know I wanted to start my own business, but I also knew I wanted to do something with meaning, something that could truly change the world. Live Life Every Day was absolutely the perfect fit for the business I wanted to start.

Why was this social venture created?

Live Life Every Day was simply, and truly, created to inspire the world. People always think changing the world is too lofty of a goal, but that’s who we are. We think big and, therefore, we want to do big. There is no greater reward than to know you changed the lives of millions of people.

How many people have you helped?

We are proud to say we have already changed the lives of thousands of people. It’s not only the people who buy and wear our t-shirts and hats, but it’s the hundreds of people we meet at the events we attend and the hundreds of people we interact with online through the various social networks we are highly active on. One of our favorite things to do is random acts of kindness on Twitter. It’s amazing how happy you can make someone by simply telling them to, “have a great day.”

We have received great feedback from anyone and everyone who knows about Live Life Every Day. Everywhere we go, people are not shy about letting us know how much they love us. In fact, we’ve already started receiving letters and messages from our fans. Because of this, we’ve started a new section on our website, called “The Inspired” ( where we post letters from people we’ve inspired.

Could others help you and how?

The biggest problem facing any start-up is exposure. You can have the greatest idea in the world, but if nobody knows about you, it doesn’t mean anything. The best way for anybody to help us is to tell everyone they know about Live Life Every Day and refer them to our website! Following us on all our social networks helps too!

Do you use social media to get the word out?

Absolutely! As I just mentioned, we are very active in the social media world and we have accounts on the Big 3: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. We love to provide inspiration wherever we can! Please be sure to show your support!

What is the one thing that you did right?

I founded Live Life Every Day. That may seem funny, but none of this would ever have happened if I didn’t have the courage to pursue an idea I believed in.

What was the biggest transition you had to make?

In becoming an entrepreneur and starting your own business, you learn very quickly that you must wear a wide variety of hats. There are so many little details involved with running and building a business that you normally wouldn’t think of. I’ve had to learn how to do many new things and gain new skills. Thanks to the internet, you can learn how to do almost anything.

Are you doing any Search Engine Optimization?

Absolutely! If you have a website, SEO is absolutely vital. As I mentioned before, if nobody knows about you, it doesn’t do you any good. I’m proud to say if you search for “Live Life Every Day” we are the number one listing!

What can you tell other potential social entrepreneurs who are deciding to make a difference?

The most important advice I can give is to just do it. It’s more important than any actual business advice. Too many people stay at the idea and planning phase and not enough people make it to the implementation phase. If you have a passion, go for it. Don’t be scared to take the risk, especially if you’re thinking about social entrepreneurship. There is no greater reward than helping your fellow man, but nothing can change in the world if you don’t take that first step.

What books have you read that others should read?

For anyone looking to start their own clothing brand, I would definitely recommend “Launch a Kick A** T-Shirt Brand” by AJ & Moust Camara. The title may sound funny, but it has a lot of great information.

Finally, thank you very much to Shoestring Venture for taking the time out to interview us!
