Say Goodbye to Elevator Music – Cloud Cover Music Launches Disruptive Technology

Say Goodbye to Elevator Music - Cloud Cover Music Launches Disruptive Technology What is the name of your business and URL?
Cloud Cover Music

A brief synopsis of the website / application (explain it to a 5 year old)?
Cloud Cover Music is a simple way for brick and mortar stores to stream music in their business legally, i.e. without the risk of hundred thousand dollar fines that can accompany playing an iPod, CD, Pandora, etc. We feature great music from the most famous artists across all major record labels, as well as lesser known indie acts, and we start at just $17.95 per month.

Why did you start this company?
Our team saw an opportunity to revolutionize the antiquated way that most stores get their music and at the same time, help music artists get paid.

Was your company started on a shoestring budget or funded?

Who is your competition, and what do you do better?
1. Muzak
2. DMX/Pandora
3. Play Network/XM For Business
Each of our competitor’s require customers to sign lengthy contracts, pay for installation and hardware fees, and feature more expensive pricing packages.
Our player is easy to use, fully customizable, and has great music from major artists to indie unknowns. We also record promotional messages for customers in an effort to create incremental sales and awareness of special affinity programs.

Why would a small business, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc use your product?
1. 100% legally licensed music: We pay royalties on the stores behalf to ASCAP, BMI, and SoundExchange.
2. An easy to use player: Any business with a computer can begin streaming legal music to their store in 5 minutes, no special hardware
necessary like the existing products (black boxes, satellites, etc).
3. Great music: We have songs from the best artists. We have no financial incentive to stream watered down elevator music or label-specific artists to our customers’, like many other companies, so we only play the best stuff.
4. Revenue generating messages: Stores can insert promotional messages into their music stream to increase sales of their
products/services. They can record the messages themselves and upload them to our server, or they can sign up for
our Premium/Pro plans and we’ll produce them in our recording studio.
5. Low cost: We’re half as expensive as our closest competitor and offer many more customizable features.

How could you effectively use these tools?
Marketing research shows that promotional messages within playlists generate incremental income. Each store location/franchisee has player controls to match demographics and regional differences. For the ultimate customization, users can schedule certain genres to play hour by hour. Or, they can create a mix of their favorite genres.

Say Goodbye to Elevator Music - Cloud Cover Music Launches Disruptive Technology A short bio of your company
In store background music is a $700M business category dominated by three major subscription services, starting with Muzak, the grand-daddy of “elevator music”. Cloud Cover Music is revolutionizing the business by using the Internet to stream music to stores with a proprietary audio player. By streaming audio files, the company eliminates the need for businesses to purchase a black box to download and play music in their store. The benefit is at least 50% lower monthly subscription costs. All necessary royalty and performances licenses are included and paid from the $17.95 monthly fee. The company also offers a $29.95 plan that includes custom messages to deliver branding and in store commercials. Stores control their music by signing in to access the player, choosing stations and managing their account. This technology is expected to appeal to both small businesses looking for an inexpensive, legal alternative to CDs, and to national chain stores looking to lower their monthly music fees while adding promotional messages to boost sales.
