A brief synopsis of the website / application ?

AnaTango has developed a revolutionary cloud-based software platform that helps businesses run more efficiently. Utilizing state-of-the-art web-based technology, AnaTango’s software solutions offer small and medium enterprise customers the ability to manage and execute in a way that improves revenue, and profits. The company has two primary software products to date, one which assists with strategic planning and execution, and one which automates a large majority of the routine business processes that a given company carries out.

Why did you start this company?

The company was founded to solve some very specific problems that businesses have today. One of those is how to properly create and execute a strategic plan in a manner that will ensure success.

Today, most companies create their strategic and operating plans and then, once those plans are put in place, little is done to ensure that individual business units and departments adhere to the plan. AnaTango’s software helps to pull together strategy and execution via a robust software solution the ensures everyone is on the same page.

The original idea for AnaTango came about during our CEO Michael Saddik’s time in the Pepperdine MBA program, and also is based in part on his experience working in an executive capacity at a couple of successful companies in the high-tech space.

Was your company started on a shoestring budget or funded?

Both. AnaTango was originally started with capital contributions – both money, and so-called “sweat equity” – from its three co-founders. Following that, an Angel investor contributed a modest amount to help the company complete its technology platform, and begin building software-as-a-service solutions, which it is in the process of doing right now.

Who is your competition, and what do you do better?

In terms of helping companies better link strategy and execution, the only competition is complex workbooks built in Microsoft Excel – which is to say there is no current competition. For broad based “run your business” software – sometimes called ERP software – AnaTango has a large number of competitors, but has chosen to focus on custom applications for the Fashion industry. This industry is an under-served one, where few applications are available that help businesses achieve efficiency and growth.

Why would a small business, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc use your product?

Our products are directed at small and medium enterprise customers. Since we are focusing, for now, on the Fashion market, we would say this: SME fashion companies are sorely underserved by the software industry. There are few solutions available that help them solve their critical business problems – such as, how do I enter an order from a customer, ensure I have adequate inventory in stock and, if not, put in a production request for more of a particular item and then fulfill and invoice that order? The solutions that are out there are based on 1990s software technology, and therefore are not flexible nor adaptable to their business.

AnaTango solves these problems with a flexible, custom-fit solution that helps these types of business focus their time and effort on what they do best – that is design and sell apparel and accessories.

How could you effectively use these tools?

We can, and do. AnaTango is implementing its software to help manage both company strategy, and tactical execution. This project is beginning, and will take some time to implement. However we are of the opinion that if we expect other “dogs to eat the dog food” we need to as well.

Do you offer free online or offline tools?

All of our products are online, since they are Cloud-based, SaaS products. We don’t currently offer any free versions of AnaTango software.

Are there different pricing levels?

Yes, for our ERP product we currently offer subscription-based pricing, which varies according to the number of users. Interested customers can contact us for more information.

How long have you been in business?

This is AnaTango’s third year of operation.

Number of current users? Estimated yearly growth?

Since we are still in the process of developing our solutions and bringing them to market, we only have a handful of customers. As such, our financials don’t show significant growth year-over-year, although we expect FY 2012 to be our best year, yet.

How do you see your company in the next 2-5 years (more products or services?)

We are actually focused more on the next 2-5 months, and then from that point forward, on the next 12 months. We are in the process of raising our first round of “venture capital” (we say that in quotes, because it may be additional Angel funding), and have begun signing up Fashion customers for our ERP solutions. We are building a three year operating plan, as part of our fundraising efforts, and will know more about where we are really going once we get through this process.

Our goal is to build AnaTango into a major player in the Cloud/SaaS space, and provide significant competition to entrenched companies in the ERP and Business Intelligence software markets. However, we are taking things one step at a time.

How many employees do you currently have working with you and/or freelance contractors?

AnaTango currently has full and part time staff in the 10-15 range.

Are you looking to hire more people or contractors? If so, what positions and skills are you looking for?

Once we have secured our next round of funding (or bridge funding from our existing investors) we will definitely be hiring. We will probably focus on software development (2-3 heads) and product management to start out with.

What other web based products would you recommend to entrepreneurs, business owners, or freelancers?

We’re not sure we understand this question. Do you mean, web-based products that can help them run their businesses? There are a wealth of solutions out there.
