MycroBurst Drenches Their Customers in Design

MycroBurst Drenches Their Customers in Design MycroBurst is an online marketplace dedicated to providing affordable graphic and web design services to businesses of all sizes through our crowdsourcing methodology. Crowdsourcing allows our global audience of more than 35,000 designers to compete for our customers’ business.

CEO Zaheer Dodhia and Executive Vice President Joe Witte started the company in 2003 in order to supply entrepreneurs with affordable design solutions that were of high quality. Zaheer has a background in running internet companies including Install, Guru Corp and CentricSource. His areas of expertise are BPO, SEO and product innovation. Cofounder Joe has previous experience at USA Networks, DoubleClick, and in the U.S. Army. He is the founder of the Travel Ad Network and CentricSource. Joe’s areas of expertise include leadership, business development, process development and BPO.

MycroBurst Drenches Their Customers in Design MycroBurst are self funded and have reached profitability. The company started out with a group of designers fulfilling our design services. But three years ago, we saw that many of our designers were more interested in freelancing and working independently, so we opted to create our crowdsourcing platform, which is like an Ebay model for design services. The results have been fantastic.

We currently have more than 35,000 designers in over 100 countries in our community, and have received more than 20,000 projects on MycroBurst. Our growth over the last two years on MycroBurst exceeds 400%. We look forward to expanding our services to more than 100,000 designers and partnering with larger companies who can leverage our design community.

Our key competitors are 99Designs and CrowdSpring. Our leadership has extensive design and global business experience, which helps us to understand the critical need for great customer service and the challenges that small businesses face. All of our customers receive a phone call, and our pricing is set at a more affordable rate.

MycroBurst Drenches Their Customers in Design We are also conscious of giving back to the community: We have been donating our services to a number of charities, and some really great things have sprung out of these initiatives. We worked with the committee that is planning The Innocence Revolution, which is a National Day to End Child Sexual Abuse slated for April 2013, as they needed a logo. We donated a $200 prize for the winner. We also donated our services through a T shirt design contest to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (www.rainn.org), which helped raise $500,000 following the #ProudPSUforRAINN campaign, in which PennStatealumni raised money to help victims through the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline following the Joe Paterno/Jerry Sandusky scandal.

MycroBurst is great for small businesses because they simply select what they need designed (logo, stationery, brochure, car wrap, website, etc), name their own price, fill out our simple creative brief, enter their credit card, and launch their project. The only other cost to the customer is the 20% fee. This cost covers all fees associated with processing payments and listing a project. Within one to two days, they will begin to receive designs from our community. They can easily give feedback through our system. By then end of their project (seven days), the client will have received up to 100+ original concepts and can pick a winner. We check the files to ensure they are in the proper format, and then pay the prize money to the winning designer. For a small business owner, it’s fast, easy, affordable, and the quality is outstanding.

There are different packages available – from the Cool Breeze, which includes a logo and stationery from $274, to the Trade Wind, which includes a logo, stationery and a complete web design solution from $974. Customers are also able to order “a la carte” logos from $199, book cover designs from $150, and magazine and newspaper ads from $199, among many other design options.

There is also a Mycroburst VIP program. It’s used by web designers, marketing consultants, printers, promotional items firms and agencies. The program provides a personal account manager, free upgrades and project monitoring.

Terry Jones, the founder and former CEO of Travelocity, said, “I’ve been very intrigued by the crowdsourcing model, and found MycroBurst to be a very powerful way to source design services. It was much less expensive than traditional design methods, extremely fast, and overall, quite good. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and colleagues.”

MycroBurst Drenches Their Customers in Design Shay Hayes, vice president of technology at Sabre Publishing, said, “The program has been great and our projects have been very successful so far. Our project manager has been great help. She was prompt and professional the whole time. The program has really worked well for us and we intend to keep using the program.”

MycroBurst just re-launched our small business services blog, http://onthecloud.mycroburst.com/ .
