Nitch is Facebook meets B2B – Connect with Your Industry Peers & Vendors

Nitch is Facebook meets B2B – Connect with Your Industry Peers & VendorsWhat is the name of your business and URL?

Nitch –

A brief synopsis of the website / application?

Our platform builds business to business social networks around specific industry verticals. So, instead of grouping friends together as you would on Facebook, we build communities of Restaurants, Yoga Studios, Bike Shops…etc. The goal is to enable better industry collaboration, cost savings, vendor management and B2B targeted marketing and commerce.

Why did you start this company?

There are huge inefficiencies in the B2B market online. There is no single platform for collaboration with business peers. No good way to target specific industries as a marketer. No single consolidated point for ecommerce and software application distribution that is specific for each industry vertical. Facebook and Google Adwords have become overly consumerized. Trade Associations are outdated and expensive. Nitch will take advantage of these inefficiencies.

The B2B world is approximately 10 years behind B2C in terms of technology adoption. This positions Nitch at the forefront of this movement where software becomes a key component to running any business from now on. As Facebook has become the hub for B2C, drawing marketers and third party applications, we hope to build on a similar model to become the one-stop-shop for B2B.

Was your company started on a shoestring budget or funded?

We build Nitch on a shoestring budget for over one year before taking in $50K in angel financing to get us to our next phase of development. We have shown solid growth and traction and are now attempting to raise our first outside round of financing.

Nitch is Facebook meets B2B – Connect with Your Industry Peers & VendorsWhy would a small business, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc use your product?

A coffee shop owner once said to us that he “sees the world as us against Starbucks.” – he was looking for ways to collaborate with his peers in real-time, not just once a year at a trade show in Las Vegas. Nitch gives small business owners more of a voice in their industry and allows for that real time information sharing that can mutually benefit all parties. In turn, we are providing a single location to source new vendors, read vendor reviews, buy items, bid out services and access third party software specific to the needs of your industry. Nitch makes small business owners more efficient and our overall goal is to save them money and improve their bottom line.

We want to be the first place a business goes in the morning and the last place they come to at night.

How could you effectively use these tools?

As a business owner, you would be able to track and contribute news, videos, images, links, product reviews and more to my community. You could save other companies posts that you liked in an archive for posterity. A business would save money on deal offers from new vendors, or create an online bidding opportunity to source the best price for a new product or service. Eventually, all ecommerce options for my industry will be located in a single place and I’ll be able to access any number of third party software tools from a single location.

Do you offer free online or offline tools?

Nitch is, and always will be, free to sign up and use.

How long have you been in business?

We recently launched the company in January 2012. We have close to 300 businesses online and have launched 18 Nitch verticals.

How do you see your company in the next 2-5 years (more products or services?)

We believe we will launch over 1000 Nitches over the next few years and bring over 1 million businesses together to collaborate. With our open framework, we will bring in third party ecommerce applications and software tools that our users access to manage their business.

A day in the life of a business owner on Nitch would be to log in in the morning to view conversations, tips, videos, news and links from peers and vendors, look at new deals and offers specific to his/her industry, quickly access any number of software applications they may be using all from Nitch with a single log in (accounting software, marketing software, employee scheduling, etc.). Maybe you buy something – quickly compare prices from wholesalers in your industry and place a single order to multiple vendors through Nitch. Before you go to bed, a business owner gets an automated notification that it’s time to bid out one of their services and that Nitch has taken care of this automatically for them. Finally, go to bed knowing that your business life has been simplified somewhat by having a single location to manage your business.

What other web based products would you recommend to entrepreneurs, business owners, or freelancers?
