With a writing career that spans publications on both sides of the Atlantic, Shapiro put her communication skills to work last year and opened her marketing communications consultancy, HS Consulting and Marketing.

Over the course of her career, Shapiro has worked with an impressive selection of clients across the lifestyle spectrum, including Tommy Hilfiger, Chico’s, Soma Intimates, Zumba Fitness, Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Flowers, Henry Roth, Killing Kittens and more.

Shapiro transitioned from editorial into communications by two lucky twists of fate. The first occurred eight years ago when, at 25 years old, Hannah jetted off to New York to pursue her dream. And, at this tender age, in a new Internet world, Hannah co-founded and directed Profile magazine–and content development off-shoot, EMagMaker–for burgeoning online dating company, Dr. Dater. While here, Hannah realized her niche talent in developing content solutions and on-brand communication products for companies.

The second came a few years later in 2008, when Shapiro was approached by Tommy Hilfiger to create promotional copy for a number of in-store and online projects. The rest, as they say, is history. In the years that have followed, Hannah has acquired and worked with an impressive portfolio of clients across the lifestyle industry spectrum. These include, Chico’s, Soma Intimates, Zumba Fitness and Carnival Cruise Lines.

HS Consulting & Marketing came about in late 2011 after Shapiro found herself laid off from a corporate America 9-to-5 job she had ironically taken to provide post-divorce financial security for her and her two children. Far away from family and loved ones in England, Shapiro snapped herself out of the inevitable anxiety and set about starting HS Consulting & Marketing with $150 to register the company and a website built by friend, Eric Sadoun of Jump2First.

Today, HS Consulting & Marketing provides turnkey yet bespoke communication solutions for small to mid-size companies. In a saturated market, Shapiro has found a niche that erases a company’s need to hire a multitude of third-party vendors to handle their communication needs. Instead, HS Consulting & Marketing considers all channels of communication needed by a client and presents them with all viable options—from corporate communications, public relations and printed collateral to social media, viral marketing and web content.
