What is your product or service? An original Flying Greeting from is a completely customized full-sized plastic disc (approx. 9 1/4 inches round weighing 100 grams) that will be mailed for you in place of a greeting card, birthday card or invitation. There is no envelope and no packaging, just the flying greeting. It is a card and a gift, all in one!!! You completely customize the flying greeting for your recipient with your own message (unlike a greeting card) and you can even add a picture for free. They will keep it forever. Imagine you walk to your mailbox on your birthday and see a stack of paper cards and a plastic disc inside with your name and a message on it. Which will you look at first?

We care about our world and the environment as we use web hosting powered by wind and discs made of high quality FDA food and drink approved polypropylene plastic.

Why did you start your company? We originally developed our product as a marketing tool to be utilized by local companies. It became the most successful direct mail vehicle we could find. After a few years of success as a marketing tool, we decided it would be a great replacement for a greeting or birthday card. And we were correct, customers LOVE it!!! They are fun to send and even more fun to receive. We also have extensive experience in the marketing and direct mail industries. Our product is a fun product that will bring a smile when your recipient receives it and promotes hours of outdoor exercise when they play with it.

How was it financed? This venture was and continues to be 100% self funded

What free online or offline tools do you use? We utilize Facebook, Twitter, Blog and Pinterest. We have partnered with many deal websites to broadcast a special offer to their members, selling hundreds of Flying Greetings while introducing them to all areas of the United States. We also wrapped our car windows with the company logo as a travelling billboard. We have also released multiple press releases and worked with media contacts to have our product mentioned online and on local news broadcasts. We also gave free samples with our company logo to our local radio stations to give out at their events and provided prizes for the radio station to give away free Flying Greeting for lucky winners for their on-air contests and games.

How many people are currently working, including employees (freelancers or independent contractors for specific projects)? We have two total employees in addition to four employees that are “on call” to assist with large order.

A Great New Way to Send a Holiday or Birthday Greeting Card What is the best advice you never got? Test, Test, Test. Test your product to be sure it works with your production and meets your customer’s needs. Do not launch until you are 100% ready. Be sure you have suppliers ready for large spikes in sales.

What almost killed your business in the start? We were lucky enough to be profitable right away due to our low product cost. Luckily, nothing stood in our way.

What is the one thing that you did right? We kept our confidence level up knowing our product will be successful. Our feedback from customers has been incredibly positive.

What was the biggest transition you had to make (i.e. new skill set, habits, abilities, focus)? Due to our marketing and direct mail experience, we had an easy transition into this business. We love direct mail and gift giving and our product does both.

Are you currently in the black or red? We are in the black, happy to be profitable from the start.

What type of marketing or advertising do you do? We utilize Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, product sampling and giveaways via blogs geared towards our target market. We also recently started utilizing an email marketing service (Constant Contact). We have tried newspaper ads with very little success. Every time someone orders our product, the amount of “eyes” that see it since there is no box or packaging really helps in our growth. Most of the time, someone that receives a Flying Greeting as a gift, ends up sending one out themselves to a loved one.

What would make your business more “Successful”? Something that would give us a major spike in sales would be “going viral” via YouTube or Facebook or to get onto a large TV News show (i.e. Today Show) during a holiday. We just need to get the word out and have people see or experience our product and they will be an instant customer. Anyone that purchases greeting cards is a potential customer of

Would you want to be acquired by a bigger company, run it yourself or sell in a couple of years? We would be open to offers to be acquired by a bigger company in the future, but for now, we are having so much fun seeing our small idea grow into something big that we would like to continue with it for the foreseeable future!!!

What do you think your projected annual revenue will be? $150K profit

How long do you think it will take you to get to your projected annual revenue? We feel it will only take approximately 2-3 years to reach $150K in profit at the current rate we are going.
