Why did you write 180 Degrees?

I wrote 180 Degrees with hope that my story will inspire others battling addiction to find their own success. I hope my story will also inspire those already in recovery to continue their journey. I lived this story, and I am revealing the ugly truth of my own addiction and the story of my recovery to encourage anyone in the terrible grip of addiction to seek help. Furthermore, I hope that my story inspires those who haven’t tried drugs or alcohol to continue to stay sober.

What’s the meaning behind the title 180 Degrees?

The title describes how drastically I changed my life. I turned my life around 180 degrees. I went from being a daily-using drug addict and occasional ‘big shot’ dealer to, eventually, a homeless junkie living on the streets. Today I am a completely sober, self-reliant, self-employed husband, father, and self-made millionaire.

I often speak at high schools, juvenile detention facilities and rehab centers. I hope 180 Degrees will reach those who need to hear its message the most.

What is the best advice you never got?

A morning meditation awakens you to your truth. A morning moment can connect you with all that is. I wake up early every morning. Meditation is a great way to start the day. I always did my writing for 180 Degrees early in the morning, that’s when my thinking is clear and my focus is strong. Some mornings I would get up as early as 3AM to start writing.

I call them The Eight Equities: Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Family, Romance, Financial, Career and Social. My advice to other potential entrepreneurs is that all eight of these must be in balance in order to achieve success and happiness in business and life.
