Why did you write this book?

I wrote Win Win Marketing to give entrepreneurs some basic marketing tips and advice that is easy to implement, doesn’t cost a fortune and gets results. As a business and marketing consultant I see the same issues and questions coming up time and time again. At the root of this was the fact that most entrepreneurs are very good technicians in their own business, but don’t have the basic skills to take care of the business and marketing side of things. So I wanted to give entrepreneurs a sort of ‘handbook’ that they could use to get the right mindset and then have the steps necessary to implement effective marketing strategies.

why readers should buy your book and what they will get out of it after reading it.

Marketing Gets KarmicAnyone who has a management position will benefit from this book. Along with a refresher on the basics there is a multitude of examples and ideas to implement to have an immediate impact on the bottom line and increase profits. Managers and business owners will find marketing strategies explained in short, easy to apply and inspiration chapters

Do you have a blog, what is the link, what do you talk about in your blog?

Yes, I have two blogs: www.amyfoxwell.com and www.winwinrestaurantmarketing.com. My blog gives lots of marketing ideas and tips both for small businesses and specifically for restaurant marketing.

Do you do speaking events? What are some common ones that you do on a regular basis? What do you talk about?

Yes, I speak at events and conferences. I like to present a ‘back to marketing basics’ approach, especially concentrating on building solid business foundations by promoting customer centric marketing.

Do you do your own marketing or PR? What is a good marketing / PR stratgey for a budding author?

Yes, I do a lot of my marketing and PR myself. The best strategy is to focus on some high profile people for reviews and blogs and social media outlets to create some buzz. Also speaking engagements and getting word of mouth going is very powerful.

What is the best advice you never got?

Networking is key. I learned too late that all of those adages like ‘it’s not what you know, it’s who you know’ and ‘no man is an island’ are very true. Getting out there and talking to everyone is one of the best thongs that you can do for your business. But even more so is the idea of helping others first. Once you’ve helped others it will come back to you.

What is the one thing that you did right?

Read, read, read. And I still do so. Keeping abreast of what is happening, getting perspectives from other industries. I spend a fortune on books, but it has been by far the best investment I have made. When I stopped counting my book budget pennies is when my business really started to take off.

What was the biggest transition you had to make (i.e. new skill set, habits, abilities, focus)?

Swallowing my pride, being a Jack of all trades, sometimes doing the less than glamorous work that before assistants and underlings would do.

What book(s) have you read that you would recommend to others?
