Why was this social venture created? We began with the idealistic notion of creating real social change. The concept was born out of the recent events in Egypt and other places. We saw real people making massive changes in their own communities and doing it in effective ways. We love the concept of community around the globe that has largely been lost in first world countries. People feel that by posting a Facebook message or a Tweet, they are making a difference in issues that are important to them. We made the decision to develop a platform that takes that a step further by holding organizations accountable for their followers’ views. allows users to truly make their voice heard by allowing them to do it in effective, measurable ways.

Politicians, businesses, and other organizations can start communities on and poll their followers on issues that may be affecting them. What makes us different is that we have an action area where community leaders MUST tell their members how they are going to be using the information. We suggest communities by area and interest and provide the option for leaders to make public and private communities and over 18/21 communities. We even throw in demographics for communities, which include age, sex and location. Let’s face it, Facebook and Twitter are great, but there is no way to tell if the organizations are actually LISTENING. ensures accountable and transparency.

What is the cost per person that is being helped? is free and always will be

Could others help you and how? Those that are passionate about politics. Those that would like to help make changes within their own cities, states, and countries and those that would like to encourage businesses to be held accountable to their customers, can help us by spreading the word.

How many people are currently working, including employees (freelancers or independent contractors for specific projects)? We currently have 7 fulltime freelancers and fulltime employees.

What is the best advice you never got? Nobody ever tells you how important it is to stay true to who you are. No one ever tells you how important it is to put making money second when starting a new business. You must be fully passionate about what you are doing and believe in it not just as a means to make money. People love to offer business advice, but I think that it’s important to break the traditional business rules as much as possible. You have to find your own niche and pave your own way. Even when you feel as though no one understands or agrees with you. I can guarantee that if you have passion behind what you do, it will be a success. You have to think outside of your own world and see the endless possibilities out there that no one ever tells you about.

What is the one thing that you did right? We hired a top ranked development team. You definitely get what you pay for and that is not something you want to skimp on! We also hold all of our team members accountable for their work. We work as a team, but we make sure that each person still operates as an individual. They are allowed to keep their own schedules and encouraged to mix work and play as much as possible. As a start-up, we work long hours and recognize the importance of allowing our team to rejuvenate and restart.

A Revolution Has Begun What can you tell other potential social entrepreneurs who are deciding to make a difference? To remain passionate about what you believe in, especially when the road seems long and hard. There will be days when you wonder is it’s all worth it, you have to believe every moment of every day that it truly is. Money issues with a start-up are always going to be a concern especially with a shoe-string startup. However, you must have faith in your idea and your own personal skills. If you keep the faith in what you are doing, things will typically fall into place.

What book(s) have you read that others should read? I don’t read your typical business books, but rather ones that inspire both your mind and soul. I recently finished Learning to Breathe by Allison Wright. If you solely read business books, read Let My People Go Surfing by the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard.
