Birdview Projects – project management for creative teams

What is the name of the site and URL?

The product is called Birdview Projects and can be found at

A brief synopsis of the website / application ?

Birdview Projects is a web-based project management software aimed at creative teams. It has been in development for over 2 years and we believe it’s the world’s first human-centric project management software. Projects evolve around people, and that’s exactly the approach Birdview takes. It empowers team members, and it gives them the ability to take responsibility and ownership of their work.

Why did you start this company?

There are a lot of teams who rely on project management software to get their work done. They rely on software that uses fancy formulas to tell you how you are doing. But there is no formula that can really tell you the true progress of a project or if there is a problem with it. Afterall, only the team member responsible for the task knows if there is something wrong. We wanted to create a system that people can trust because it’s powered by people. We wanted to give creative teams the tools to properly communicate project progress, raise alerts to identify issues and give them the ability to take ownership of their work.

Was your company started on a shoestring budget or funded?

We are privately funded. We’ve had previous experience developing other project management tools and have been able to secure funding from the sale of those products.

Who is your competition, and what do you do better?

Our competition includes other web-based project management tools such as Basecamp, 5pm and Copper. Birdview Projects tries to solve three major problems found in other products: no account for the human factor, too many automated wrong assumptions, non-intuitive for people with no project management experience. What makes us stand out are some of our unique features which include a birds-eye view of your projects allowing you to zoom out to get a general overview of where things stand, or zoom-in down to the finer details of a specific project. Project progress with Birdview is tracked using goals, rather than percentage (because what does saying 84% complete really mean?). This way you know exactly how far along you are, what has and hasn’t been complete and there is no need to assume. And Birdview Projects uses plain English when creating tasks, submitting expenses or logging time. It’s as simple as writing who, when, what and Birdview creates the rest for you. We have also worked very closely with a Moscow-based design bureau to create an iPhone inspired UI. The Artem Gorbunov Design Bureau, is a product design company behind some of the Samsung, the government of Russia and even “TechCrunch Moscow” projects.

Why would a small business, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc use your product?

Birdview is great for these types of users. It doesn’t come with enterprise level functionality found in other project management software such as MS Project, because that’s not what these users need. Birdview is for people who don’t have time or desire to deal with yet another do-it-all software that becomes a project in itself to learn and master. Birdview Projects is an ideal solution for users and teams who just want their work to be done and to have some fun in the process.

How could you effectively use these tools?

Birdview Projects is perfect for creative teams but can be used by just about anyone. It will allow you to effectively track your projects, meet goals and for the entire team to stay on the same page. Our “stop-the-line” approach allows users to raise a red flag in order to highlight a potential problem. This approach will alert those who are involved with the project that there is an issue and they can then take the necessary steps to discuss and resolve it. Bundled together with our time and money tracking and you have a great overall tool to run all of your projects.

Are there different pricing levels?

Birdview Projects has a free 14-day trial, that requires no sign up and takes 10 seconds to get started. We have a free plan, a $49/month plan which gives you 5 users and 10 projects, a $149/month plan with 15 users and 15 projects, and a $299/month plan with 30 users and 30 projects. There is also an enterprise-level plan for those requiring more resources. All of our plans and pricing can be found at:
