New Web-Based Tool Pioneers Future Gifting

What is the name of the site(s) and URL?

GiftsOnTime.com – http://www.giftsontime.com

A brief synopsis of the website / application ?

We make gift giving easy. GiftsOnTime.com is a turnkey, web-based platform that enables professional services providers and HR professionals to build stronger business relationships – whether that’s with clients, customers, or employees. Our innovative approach was born out of the idea that gift giving is an important task, but is often perceived as a cumbersome and time consuming process. GiftsOnTime.com automates this process through our free online platform, which enables “Future Gifting” for the first time ever. In less than one hour, you can consolidate your gift giving activities for the entire year right from your computer. By recognizing clients or employees on important dates such as milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or over the holiday season, you’ll be creating a lasting impression that will get noticed – and get talked about – with a minimal investment of your time.

Why did you start this company?

Ron Orleans

Over the last 35 years I have built a successful CPA practice, but I always struggled with the demands on my time. I had to service my client base and also deal with firm-related responsibilities including marketing. I found that marketing programs requiring a significant amount of time were rarely completed. Easy to implement programs, such as newsletters, tax guides, email blasts, etc. seemed to be the only types of marketing we could accomplish – but I never felt that they were effective.

GiftsOnTime.com is about saying “Thank you” to existing clients, especially on their birthdays or business anniversaries – and can also be used to thank employees. But most importantly, GiftsOnTime does not require a significant investment of time to implement a highly targeted marketing program that spans an entire year. It’s a form of marketing that I’ve found very effective for really creating a word-of-mouth buzz and building stronger relationships with my clients.

Who is your competition, and what do you do better?

Our competition includes e-commerce sites that are focused on gift items e.g. Red Envelope, 1-800 Flowers, etc. In fact, we partner with those sorts of vendors to help them expand their market reach, and grow their business in a more cost-effective manner. However, unlike our competitors, we focus on improving the process of gift giving – making it much more efficient than ever before. In addition to enabling users to get an entire year’s worth of gifting done in just an hour, we also have a very wide selection of gifts from cookies to tech gadgets to fine wine in one place. We’ve streamlined the gift-giving process – which is often dreaded since it has historically been so time-consuming – and made it into a turnkey, “set it and forget it” marketing tool.

Why would a small business, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc use your product?

A small business owner or entrepreneur would use our product because it’s all about being able to strengthen business bonds, without sacrificing a significant amount of time. These are people that have innumerable demands, much like myself when I ran my own large CPA firm. They simply don’t have the bandwidth to remember when a top client celebrates his 50th birthday or when an employee has given 5 years of service to the company – but it’s truly important to the success of your business to not only keep employees happy and engaged, but to build enduring client relationships. GiftsOnTime.com really makes it simple and efficient to do so.

In addition to servicing small business owners, GiftsOnTime.com also has the capability to service large accounts for corporations of all sizes with our web-based Future Gifting technology.

Are there different pricing levels?

No. Our web-based platform is free to use whether you schedule 1 gifts for the year, or 10,000.

How long have you been in business?

GiftsOnTime.com officially launched in November 2011, after just over two years of product development.

Number of current users? Estimated yearly growth?

We have several hundred users across more than 20 states, and we hope to see that number grow exponentially throughout 2011 as we hit the ground running with sales, marketing and public relations.

Do you have a blog that keeps users updated?

Yes – we’re excited to announce our new company blog just launched this month. You can access it at http://blog.giftsontime.com.

How do you see your company in the next 2-5 years (more products or services?)

The future of GiftsOnTime.com is about change. We are asking businesses to change the way they have managed gift giving in the past. Even though we offer a wonderful solution to an existing unstructured and cumbersome process, it still represents a change in the way people do business.

Much in the same way in which we are asking out customers to change, we too will adapt and evolve to meet their demands. For example, will continue to invest in performance enhancements (application speed), user interface upgrades (ease of use), expanded gift selection (variety), mobile application development (accessibility), and ultimately broader expansion into the consumer market.

The potential market for gift giving is very large, and our intention is to rapidly capture as much market share as possible with our Future Gifting technology.

What other web based products would you recommend to entrepreneurs, business owners, or freelancers?

If you’re looking for a different-in-kind marketing tool, HubSpot is the best. If you’re looking for a CRM (and the size of your business warrants the need), I would recommend Salesforce.com. If you need a tool for e-mail marketing, Constant Contact is great. For analytics and PPC services, I would recommend Google Analytics and AdWords. Finally, although not a web-based tool, Tableau is very powerful, and relatively inexpensive if you have the need for a business intelligence and reporting tool.
