TimeForge manages employee schedules, time cards, payroll, staff communications, and HR

What is the name of the sit and URL?

The name and site is TimeForge.com

A brief synopsis of the website / application?

TimeForge manages employee schedules, time cards, payroll, staff communications, and HR for small and medium businesses. It’s a web-based application, and its very simple to use.

Why did you start this company?

My roommate in college worked at a local restaurant, and he spent a lot of time driving to and from work, trying to find out when he worked, or attempting to pick up a shift. We started looking at ways that these problems could be solved without having to be at the restaurant.

The whole labor management process is flawed – a manager sits in the back office of a restaurant, retail store, or even an insurance agency, writing a schedule. On average, the process takes hours, and during that time, the manager isn’t available to actually manage the business. As soon as the ink is dry on the schedule, it’s wrong – the manager (who is really, really busy) will have forgotten time off, school schedules, child visitation days, rules for scheduling minors, second jobs for staff members, and a dozen other things.

We sought to fix the entire situation for both managers and staff by allowing the staff to get involved, and adding some sophisticated math to the problem. And, it’s a web site, so everyone knows what’s going on, at all times.

Over the years, our software has evolved from a simple scheduling software package to an entire labor management suite, solving time card and HR problems for our clients as well.

We save managers hours and hours of time every week, and keep staff from being frustrated.

Who is your competition, and what do you do better?

There are probably hundreds, or thousands, of competitors. We have Point of Sale competitors (and partners), scheduling competitors, time and attendance competitors, and those who do some combination of labor management functionality.

We fill a void between solutions that only do scheduling, and a large enterprise labor management suite that does everything under the sun. Some of our customers use only our scheduling product or HR product. Others use the time tracking or the Daily Log. Still others combine them to provide a complete labor management product.

Unlike our larger competitors, most of our clients find is that because we are “small”, we are also quick to react. Need a feature? Give us a call, it might be there by the end of the week.

Our software allows you to work the way you and your business works! We don’t require that you change to make sure you manage your labor the way the software wants you to.

Why would a small business, entrepreneur, or freelancer use your product?

Tracking time and managing work schedules is a problem that every business has. If you are tracking time punches (clock in / clock out) on a daily basis, it’s time to evaluate whether you are able to operate as profitably as you’d like to. Managing punch fraud, buddy punching (or sweet-hearting), and hand-entering or retyping data into payroll systems is cumbersome and time consuming.

TimeForge can ensure that your payroll is processed quickly and efficiently, and that staff schedules are published in just a few clicks. You’re welcome to try our trial, and see how you like it!

Do you offer free online or offline tools?

All of our products come with a free trial. We don’t currently have any extended “free” products, though we likely will in the near future.

Are there different pricing levels?

Yes, we provide different pricing levels based on the number of staff members, the product you are using, and any integration required – for example, if you are integrating the software with a Point of Sale product.

Do you have a blog that keeps users updated?

We sure do … www.TimeForge.com/site/blog

Facebook, twitter, or ? Provide URL

Twitter is at www.twitter.com/timeforge

How long have you been in business?

Our parent company has been in business for almost a decade. TimeForge has been our flagship product for the last 4 years.

How many employees do you currently have working with you and/or freelance contractors?

We currently employ 7 very friendly staff members who help with marketing, customer service, software development, and other aspects of the business.

What other web based products would you recommend to entrepreneurs, business owners, or freelancers?

Some amazing tools we’d recommend include:

- Vonage (for phone service)
- RingCentral (for voicemail / phone routing)
- HelpSpot (for tracking customer requests)
- WordPress (for blogs, websites)
- e-Junkie (for selling ebooks, etc…)
- Authorize.NET (for credit card and check transactions)
- Google Docs (for keeping track of spreadsheets, etc…)
