Embracing crowdsourcing in your business model with evly.com

The questions below was answered by Co-Founder of evly.com, Eran Eyal

What is the name of the site and URL?

http://www.evly.com

Why would a small business, entrepreneur, freelancer, etc use your product?

A few years ago small businesses and freelancers were introduced to unprecedented power of being able to communicate and seed information through Social Media – but Social Media has a glass ceiling. It’s very difficult to get value from chatter and discussion alone. Crowdsourcing always has a clear goal – whether it’s creating a product, solving a scientific problem, sourcing wisdom, market research and intelligence or finding funding from the crowd. It’s about a return to focus on deliverable solutions. Social media is a tacit component of crowdsourcing.

The problem with crowdsourcing pre-evly.com is that a site like Springleap.com (our design crowdsourcing site we have run for 2 years to understand the space and build a business of crowdsourcing) can represent massive risk in terms of huge sunk costs and time (a recent quote to redo Springleap.com came in at around US$143000 – and that wasn’t for all the features we wanted! …plus 12 months development). Compound this with having no community to start with and having to learn how to manage the community and provide them the right tools and good UX. It’s a potential recipe for disaster.

If evly.com existed we would have been able to create a much more powerful site in minutes, have all the right tools and at very little risk as the initial offering is free. We would have been able to have the right user interface and experience and an ability to market the site more powerfully.

Evly strips away the risk, the heavy learnings and provides a space where you can draw a community from.

Evly is for crowdsourcing what Facebook was for Social Media.

How could you effectively use these tools?

Via the use of templates and a drag-and-drop interface, a user will be lead to the best solution by a team who understands what each particular solution requires. So being effective was at the forefront of our minds when creating templates. The customizability over and above this is quite deep, yet simple.

Moreover – they are able to approach us to help and consult.

Are there different pricing levels?

Level 1: Starter – Individuals and companies can set up crowdsourcing websites and pose challenges for free. All evly websites will benefit from participating through evly.com’s ‘network of networks’ in order to utilize collective knowledge.

Level 2: Customisation – Building on from Level 1, the first premium model of evly will give the website owner more control over the design and branding of their website. Website owners will be able to create a fully customized website in minutes.

Level 3: Independence – Will afford website owners the option to remove themselves from the evly network. Website owners will also have 100% custom branding, as well as ownership of all member information.

Do you have a blog that keeps users updated?

We currently have a splash page allowing users to sign up to evly.com, this sign process includes registration to be BETA testers.

The splash page is http://www.evly.com

How do you see your company in the next 2-5 years (more products or services?)

3 year: 36+ Million users and thousands of crowdsourcing networks, bespoke client solutions for large brands and businesses, a 3rd party app marketplace riddled with incredible plugins for evly.com sites all backed by a powerful team developing the platform further and providing more tools for the community and clients.

5 year: 85+ Million users and all the above scaled too much higher levels with deep relationships with major international platforms and brands. Possible IPO

How many employees do you currently have working with you and/or freelance contractors?

In Crowdtech Holdings we have 23 people. That covers all the brands. Of these we have 3 very senior developers and one front-end developer. This is the section of the company we want to bolster the most.

Are you looking to hire more people or contractors? If so, what positions and skills are you looking for?

We are always looking for interesting CVs for everything from marketing to development. Right now we are mostly looking for intern positions in marketing and office admin but as soon as we raise our next round, we are soon going to be on a serious hiring path.

What other web based products would you recommend to entrepreneurs, business owners, or freelancers?

I am hesitant to advise anyone in particular. I would say that one should rather examine the space as a whole and learn who the players are. Examine the point of differentiation and value offerings. Most importantly – watch evly.com – It’s launching soon. Power the crowd.
