What a trillion dollars would look like if you walked into it

$750 billion in TARP funds. $800 billion in economic stimulus. A trillion dollar deficit projected for this year alone. Japan’s got a trillion dollars of our national debt and China’s got almost two trillion.

So, just to give you a good handle on just how staggering these amounts are — and they’re becoming less staggering each time we hear about them — the three wise men and a fool at PageTutor.com (one of my most-thumbed HTML resources) offer up a handy visualization, just in case you always wondered what a trillion dollars looks like.

I, like you, would be more than happy with the pint-sized conveniently portable million dollar pile. And when you consider that a million dollar a year company is a real success story — and you compare the piddly million dollar pile to the trillion dollar pile — you get some idea how much the Vikram Pandits and Richard Fulds of the world really pooped in the pool we’re all swimming in.

Again, a rousing callout to Charles and his always delightful Blessed Bewilderment blog for the original post.
