Categorized | tip sheet now goes tweet-tweet figures pretty prominently in the CRM section of Shoestring Venture: The Startup Bible (I mean, how couldn’t it?). Well, all the folks here at Shoestring Publishing spend many idyllic hours whiling away our time on Salesforce, so we’re pleased as punch to find out that the brainiacs at Salesforce have finally caught up with the brave new world of word-of-mouth marketing in social networking.

Just this morning (yes, this morning), Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff unveiled “Salesforce for Twitter,” a Salesforce add-on that allows business owners and managers to search Twitter directly from Salesforce for all the buzz and boos circulating about a company or product out there in Twitterland. And if you’re a Salesforce power-user, you can cross-reference tweets with the data collected from your call or customer center. And if it’s a problem with your company or product, you can tweet everyone with the fix.

We love this tool as much as we love Salesforce. But why stop at Twitter? The blogosphere, Facebook — these are all fora for effective word-of-mouth marketing and customer service. However, when starts giving companies access to my dinner conversations and bedroom banter, well, that’s where CRM enters The Man Who Was Thursday land.
